Possible Causes
Open or shorted freezer thermistor, Damaged harness in freezer door or liner, Corroded connector at control, Failed main control board sensor channel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the freezer evaporator area.
- Access thermistor: Remove the freezer rear panel to locate the thermistor clipped to the evaporator or liner.
- Visual inspection: Look for ice damage, corrosion, or broken wires.
- Measure resistance: Disconnect the thermistor and test with a multimeter. Replace if readings are not within GE's specified range.
- Harness and board: If the thermistor is good, inspect the harness back to the control board. If wiring is intact, the main control board may need replacement.
