Possible Causes
Door left open, Evaporator fan not running, Blocked air vents by food items, Defrost failure causing ice blockage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Avoid using sharp tools to clear ice; unplug the unit if you need to remove interior panels.
- Check doors: Ensure the fresh food doors close fully and nothing is blocking them. Verify door gaskets are sealing.
- Clear vents: Move large containers away from rear and side vents to allow proper airflow.
- Listen for fan: With the door switch held closed, listen for the evaporator fan running. If silent, the fan motor or door switch may be faulty.
- Defrost blockage: If you notice frost on the back wall, a defrost issue may be restricting airflow. Manually defrost and then diagnose the defrost system (heater, thermostat, thermistor).
- Reset alarm: Press the Alarm or Reset button to silence the alarm after correcting the cause.
