Possible Causes
Freezer thermistor failure, Loose thermistor connection, Main control board misreading sensor, Ice buildup affecting sensor location
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing freezer panels.
- Check for frost: Remove the freezer rear panel and inspect for heavy frost that may be insulating the thermistor. If present, defrost the area.
- Inspect thermistor: Locate the freezer thermistor clipped to the evaporator or liner. Ensure it is properly attached and not damaged.
- Reseat connector: Follow the thermistor wires to the plug and reseat it firmly.
- Replace thermistor: If the sensor appears swollen, cracked, or tests out of range, replace it.
- Control board: If a new thermistor does not resolve the FZ code, the main control board may be faulty and require replacement.
