Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain, Cracked or misaligned drain pan, Loose water line connection to inlet valve, Leaking water filter or filter head
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before working on water lines.
- Identify leak source: Pull the unit forward and inspect underneath with a flashlight while someone pours a small amount of water into the freezer drain trough (with power off).
- Clear defrost drain: If water backs up into the freezer, the drain is clogged. Use warm water and a turkey baster to flush the drain tube from the freezer and from the rear where it exits into the drain pan.
- Check drain pan: Inspect the plastic drain pan above the compressor for cracks or misalignment. Replace if damaged.
- Inspect water lines: Examine the water inlet valve connections, filter housing, and door water lines for drips while the water supply is on. Tighten or replace fittings as needed.
