Possible Causes
Faulty ambient NTC sensor (cabinet or control panel), Loose or corroded sensor connector, Damaged sensor wiring to main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect the appliance from mains before removing control panels or touching wiring.
Steps:
- Locate the ambient sensor: On many Gorenje models, the ambient sensor is near the front control panel, behind the display, or in a small grille on the cabinet front/top.
- Inspect the sensor and grille: Check for dust blockage, moisture ingress, or physical damage. Clean the grille gently with a soft brush.
- Check connections: Remove the control panel cover, locate the sensor connector on the PCB, and reseat it. Look for corrosion or bent pins.
- Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare with the service chart; if open, shorted, or far off spec, replace the sensor.
- Replace the ambient sensor: Order a compatible Gorenje ambient NTC sensor. Install it in the same location and reconnect the harness.
- Power up and test: Restore power and observe if E5 clears after a few minutes of operation.
When to seek service: If the sensor and wiring are OK, the main control board may be misreading the sensor and should be evaluated by a technician.
