Possible Causes
Loose or oxidized data cable between display PCB and main PCB, Damaged control harness in door hinge area, Faulty user interface board, Faulty main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing control boards or wiring. Avoid static discharge to electronic components.
Troubleshooting steps:
- Power reset: Disconnect power for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect. If E6 returns, continue.
- Access the top/front control panel: On many Gorenje models, the display PCB is in the top front of the cabinet or in the door. Remove the trim and screws to expose it.
- Check the communication cable: Locate the multi-core cable connecting the display PCB to the main PCB (usually at the rear, behind a metal or plastic cover). Reseat both ends firmly.
- Inspect for damage: Look for pinched or broken wires, especially where the harness passes through the door hinge or cabinet.
- Clean connectors: If there is visible oxidation, gently clean contacts with electrical contact cleaner and allow to dry fully.
- Test continuity: Use a multimeter to check continuity of each conductor in the harness. Replace the harness if any conductor is open.
- Board replacement: If wiring is intact and E6 persists, either the display PCB or main PCB is likely faulty. Replacing boards should be done by a qualified technician to avoid misdiagnosis and ensure correct programming.
