Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before removing freezer panels or touching the fan. Beware of sharp metal edges.
Steps:
- Defrost and inspect: Remove freezer drawers and the rear inner panel. If the fan area is encased in ice, unplug the unit and allow it to defrost completely. Do not chip ice with sharp tools.
- Check fan movement: Once ice is melted, spin the fan blades by hand. They should turn freely without scraping. If obstructed, remove debris or reposition wiring.
- Test the fan motor: Disconnect the fan connector and measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the fan to the main PCB for damage and test continuity.
- Replace the evaporator fan motor: Order a Gorenje-specific evaporator fan motor. Remove the old motor from its bracket, transfer the fan blade if separate, and install the new motor. Reconnect wiring securely.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the rear panel, restore power, and listen for the fan starting after the compressor runs. E7 should clear if the fan operates correctly.
Note: If the fan and wiring are good, the main PCB may not be supplying power or reading feedback correctly; professional diagnosis is recommended.
