Possible Causes

Clogged drain hole below evaporator, Ice plug in drain tube, Food debris or mold blocking drain channel, Misaligned drain heater (if fitted)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before removing internal panels. Water on the floor can cause slips; use towels.

Steps:

  • Locate the drain: In many Gorenje models, the defrost drain is at the rear of the fridge or freezer compartment, under a small trough below the evaporator cover.
  • Clear visible debris: Remove shelves and the rear inner panel if necessary. Clean any food particles or mold from the drain trough.
  • Unblock the drain hole: Use a soft plastic probe or flexible tube to gently clear the drain hole. Do not use metal objects that can puncture the liner.
  • Flush with warm water: Using a turkey baster or syringe, flush warm (not boiling) water through the drain until it flows freely into the drain pan above the compressor.
  • Check drain tube: From the rear, inspect the drain tube and ensure it is properly seated in the drain pan and not kinked.
  • Reassemble and monitor: Dry the interior, refit panels, and restore power. Monitor for leaks over the next few days.
