Freezer temperature is incorrect and the display shows E1.

• Check freezer temperature and frost: Open the freezer and inspect the rear wall. Heavy frost or ice around the sensor area can cause incorrect readings. If present, fully defrost the unit by unplugging and leaving doors open.
• Locate the freezer sensor: The NTC is usually behind a small plastic cover on the rear or side wall of the freezer. Remove the cover carefully.
• Inspect the sensor and harness: Look for signs of damage, moisture intrusion, or brittle insulation. Gently tug the connector to ensure it is secure.
• Measure sensor resistance (optional): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor at the main PCB or at an accessible connector and measure resistance with a multimeter. If it reads open circuit, near 0 Ω, or far from expected NTC values, replace it.
• Replace the freezer NTC sensor: Install a Grundig-compatible freezer sensor, route the cable along the original path, and secure it away from moving parts or sharp edges. Refit the cover.
• Power up and monitor: Restore power and allow several hours for temperatures to stabilize. Confirm that the E1 code clears and the freezer reaches the set temperature.

If the error remains, the main control board or connector block may be defective and professional service is recommended.
