Possible Causes

Faulty ambient NTC sensor near control panel, Disconnected or corroded sensor connector, Damaged wiring between ambient sensor and main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect the appliance from mains power before accessing the control panel or electronics.

  • Check installation environment: Ensure the fridge is not installed in direct sunlight, next to an oven, or in an unheated garage where ambient temperature is outside the specified range. Extreme conditions can trigger sensor-related errors.
  • Locate ambient sensor: On many Grundig models, the ambient sensor is located behind the top display/control panel or in a small grille on the front frame. Remove the control panel trim carefully (usually clipped or with small screws).
  • Inspect sensor and connector: Look for a small NTC probe or capsule connected by two wires. Check for corrosion, loose fit, or broken wires. Reseat the connector on the control PCB.
  • Test the sensor: With the fridge unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare to typical NTC values. If readings are abnormal, replace the sensor.
  • Replace ambient sensor: Fit a compatible Grundig ambient NTC sensor, secure it in the original location, and ensure the wiring is not pinched when refitting the control panel.
  • Reset and test: Restore power, clear any error by pressing and holding the appropriate buttons (refer to user manual), and monitor operation for several hours.

If E2 persists, the main control board may misread the sensor and should be evaluated by a technician.
