Possible Causes
Iced-over air ducts between freezer and fridge, Stuck or broken air damper flap, Failed damper motor, Blocked return air vents by food items
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before removing interior panels.
- Check airflow: Place your hand near the air outlets in the refrigerator compartment while the compressor is running (for testing only). Weak or no airflow indicates a duct or damper issue.
- Inspect for blockages: Ensure large containers or food packages are not blocking the air vents in either compartment.
- Defrost ducts: If you suspect ice blockage, unplug the unit and leave doors open for 12–24 hours to fully defrost internal air channels. Protect the floor from water.
- Access damper assembly: Remove the cover over the air damper (usually at the top rear of the fridge compartment). Check if the flap moves freely.
- Replace faulty damper: If the flap is broken or the motor does not operate when commanded (after restoring power), replace the air damper assembly with a Grundig-compatible part.
- Reassemble and test: Restore power and monitor refrigerator temperature over 24 hours.
