Possible Causes
Blocked drain hole below evaporator, Ice plug in drain tube, Food debris or mold in drain channel, Kinked or misrouted drain hose at rear
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before working inside or behind it.
- Locate drain hole: In the refrigerator or freezer (depending on model), remove the rear interior panel to expose the evaporator and find the drain hole beneath it.
- Clear visible blockage: Remove any debris from the drain tray and hole using a soft brush or pipe cleaner.
- Melt ice plug: Use warm (not boiling) water in a turkey baster or syringe to flush the drain until water flows freely into the drain pan at the back.
- Check rear drain hose: At the back of the fridge, locate the drain hose leading to the drip tray on top of the compressor. Ensure it is not kinked or blocked.
- Clean drip tray: Remove and clean the drip tray if accessible, then reinstall.
