How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before testing the defrost circuit. The heater operates at mains voltage.
Steps:
- 1. Wait and observe: Some Haier models briefly display dF during a normal defrost cycle. If it clears within 30–60 minutes and cooling resumes, no fault is present.
- 2. If dF persists: Unplug the unit for 10–15 minutes and plug back in. If dF reappears and cooling does not resume, proceed with defrost system checks.
- 3. Check defrost sensor and heater: Test the defrost sensor and heater as described in the E4 and E5 entries. Replace any failed components.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Verify continuity from the heater and sensor to the main PCB. Repair any damaged harnesses.
- 5. Replace main PCB: If all defrost components and wiring are good but the control remains stuck in defrost (dF), the main control board is likely faulty and should be replaced.
