Display shows E2 and the refrigerator compartment light or control panel may behave erratically.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing any control panels or wiring. Avoid static discharge to the control board by touching a grounded metal object first.
How to proceed:
- 1. Identify the ambient sensor: On many Haier models, the ambient sensor is located near the top front of the cabinet, behind the display panel or in the hinge area, sensing room temperature.
- 2. Remove the display/hinge cover: Carefully pry off the plastic trim or remove screws to access the sensor. Do not pull on the wiring harness.
- 3. Inspect the sensor: Check for broken leads, corrosion, or signs of moisture. Ensure the sensor is not dangling loose; it should be clipped in place.
- 4. Test resistance: With power disconnected, unplug the sensor from the harness and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to the NTC chart for your model at room temperature. Replace if open, shorted, or out of range.
- 5. Check harness to PCB: If the sensor tests good, verify continuity from the sensor connector to the main PCB. Repair or replace any damaged harness sections.
- 6. Replace faulty components: Install a new Haier ambient temperature sensor if needed. If wiring and sensor are good but E2 remains, the main control board may require replacement.
Tip: After repair, allow several hours for the control to recalibrate to room conditions.
