Possible Causes
Door left open for extended period, Failed temperature sensor reading high, Warm food load recently added, Refrigeration system fault (low refrigerant, weak compressor)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No immediate electrical hazard, but avoid leaving doors open for long periods to prevent compressor stress.
Steps:
- 1. Check doors: Ensure all doors are fully closed and door gaskets are sealing properly. Remove any items blocking closure.
- 2. Allow recovery time: If large amounts of warm food were added, allow 12–24 hours for temperatures to stabilize. H1 may clear automatically.
- 3. Verify actual temperature: Use a separate thermometer in the refrigerator and freezer to confirm if temperatures are truly high or if it is a sensor/control issue.
- 4. Inspect sensors: If the actual temperature is normal but H1 persists, test the relevant temperature sensors (refrigerator and freezer NTCs) as described in other entries. Replace any that are out of spec.
- 5. Check condenser and fans: Ensure the condenser coils are clean and both condenser and evaporator fans are running. Clean coils and repair fans as needed.
- 6. System issues: If temperatures remain high despite fans and sensors being good, there may be a sealed system problem (refrigerant leak, weak compressor) requiring a professional technician.
