Safety: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off water before disconnecting internal lines.

Steps:

  • 1. Check controls: Ensure the dispenser is not locked via the control panel (child lock).
  • 2. Listen for valve: Press the dispenser lever and listen for a click or hum from the inlet valve. If you hear it, the valve is energizing and the line may be frozen or blocked.
  • 3. Frozen line: On models with water in the door, the line can freeze in the door. Open the door and gently warm the dispenser area with a hair dryer on low, moving constantly to avoid damage. Do not overheat.
  • 4. Dispenser switch: If the valve does not energize, test the dispenser switch or lever microswitch for continuity when pressed. Replace if faulty.
