Possible Causes
Corrupted defrost control logic in main board, Stuck defrost relay, Incorrect feedback from defrost sensor, Power interruption during defrost cycle
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before accessing the control board or defrost wiring.
Steps:
- 1. Power reset: Disconnect power for 15 minutes to reset the control logic. Restore power and monitor if E10 reappears after a full cooling/defrost cycle.
- 2. Check defrost components: Verify that the defrost heater and defrost sensor are functioning (see E3 and E4 procedures). A failed component can cause the board to log a defrost control error.
- 3. Inspect main control board: Access the board at the rear of the unit. Look for signs of overheating around the defrost relay area.
- 4. Manual defrost test (if service mode available): Some Hansa models allow entering a service mode to force a defrost cycle. If the heater does not energize in forced defrost but tests good, the board is likely faulty.
- 5. Replace main control board: If defrost components are good and E10 persists, replace the main control board with the correct Hansa part number.
Note: Incorrect defrost control can lead to heavy ice buildup and poor cooling, so address E10 promptly.
