Possible Causes
Defective door switch in refrigerator compartment, Broken door switch wiring, Misaligned door magnet (on reed-switch models), Control board not detecting door closure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing door switch assemblies or control panels.
Procedure:
- 1. Check door lights: Open and close the refrigerator door. If the interior light does not turn off when the door is closed, the door switch may be faulty.
- 2. Locate door switch: On Hansa refrigerators, the door switch is usually located in the door frame near the top or side, or integrated into the control panel.
- 3. Test the switch: Remove the switch by gently prying it out. Disconnect the connector and test continuity with a multimeter while pressing the switch. It should change state (open/closed) when pressed.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Check for broken or loose wires at the switch and along the harness to the control board.
- 5. Replace faulty switch: Install a new refrigerator door switch if the original does not operate correctly.
- 6. Control board: If the switch and wiring are good but E11 remains, the main control board may not be reading the door status correctly and may need replacement.
Note: Some models use magnetic reed switches; ensure the door magnet is present and correctly positioned.
