Display shows E7; fan noise may stop and airflow between freezer and refrigerator is reduced.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the freezer fan area. Moving fan blades can cause injury if power is applied unexpectedly.
Steps:
- 1. Listen for fan operation: With doors closed for a few minutes and then opened, you should normally hear the evaporator fan running. If silent and E7 is displayed, suspect the fan circuit.
- 2. Access the fan: Remove freezer drawers and the rear interior panel to expose the evaporator and fan assembly.
- 3. Check for ice blockage: Inspect the fan blades and shroud for ice buildup. If present, fully defrost the unit (unplug for 24 hours) and ensure the defrost system is working correctly.
- 4. Test the fan motor: Disconnect the fan connector. Measure resistance across the motor terminals; an open circuit indicates a failed motor. On DC fans, you may also check for supply voltage from the board when powered (only if you are experienced and can do so safely).
- 5. Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the fan to the main control board for damage or loose connectors.
- 6. Replace components: If the motor is defective, install a new evaporator fan motor assembly suitable for your Hansa model. If wiring and motor are good but the fan never receives power, the main control board may need replacement.
After repair: Reassemble panels carefully to avoid air leaks, restore power, and verify that the fan runs after the compressor starts.
