Possible Causes

Failed ice maker temperature sensor, Loose connector at ice maker module, Broken harness in freezer door or cabinet, Control board input failure for auxiliary sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off and unplug the refrigerator before working on the ice maker or door wiring. Water and electricity together can be hazardous.

Steps:

  • 1. Disable ice maker: Use the control panel to turn off the ice maker function to prevent movement while working.
  • 2. Access ice maker assembly: Remove the ice bin and any covers to expose the ice maker module. On some Hansa models, the sensor is integrated into the ice maker housing.
  • 3. Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the ice maker to the cabinet connector, and from there to the main board. Look for pinched or broken wires, especially in the door hinge area.
  • 4. Test sensor (if accessible): If the ice maker has a separate NTC sensor, disconnect and measure its resistance at freezer temperature. Replace if out of specification.
  • 5. Module replacement: If the sensor is integrated and not serviceable separately, replace the entire ice maker assembly.
  • 6. Control board: If wiring and module are good but E9 persists, the main control board may be defective and should be replaced by a technician.

After repair: Restore power, enable the ice maker, and allow several hours for ice production to resume.
