Possible Causes
Ice contacting fan blades, Worn evaporator fan motor bearings, Loose fan shroud, Misaligned fan blade
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the freezer fan.
Steps:
- 1. Inspect for ice: Remove freezer drawers and look for ice buildup around the rear panel. If present, manually defrost the unit.
- 2. Access fan: Remove the rear panel to expose the evaporator fan. Check if blades are rubbing against ice or the shroud.
- 3. Adjust or replace fan: Realign the fan blade if it is rubbing. If the motor is noisy even when free of ice, replace the evaporator fan motor.
- 4. Secure shroud: Tighten any loose screws or clips holding the fan housing.
Note: Persistent fan noise after defrosting usually indicates a failing motor.
