Possible Causes
Faulty mechanical thermostat (on basic Hansa models), Defective temperature sensor, Stuck relay on main control board, Door gasket leaks causing warm air infiltration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing control knobs, thermostats, or electronic boards.
Steps:
- 1. Check temperature settings: Ensure the control is not set to maximum cold. Set to a mid-range and monitor for 24 hours.
- 2. Inspect door gaskets: Look for gaps, tears, or hardened seals. Close a sheet of paper in the door; if it pulls out easily, the gasket may be leaking.
- 3. Mechanical thermostat models: Access the thermostat behind the control knob. Listen for a click when turning from warm to cold. If no click or if the compressor never stops, the thermostat may be stuck closed and should be replaced.
- 4. Electronic models: Faulty sensors or control boards can cause continuous running. See sensor and main board fault scenarios for testing and replacement.
Note: Continuous running increases energy use and wear. If basic checks do not resolve it, have a technician test the control system.
