Possible Causes
Frozen water line in refrigerator door, Clogged water filter, Faulty dispenser switch or lever, Kinked water hose to dispenser
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off water supply and unplug the refrigerator before working on the dispenser system.
Steps:
- 1. Check water supply: Verify that water reaches the refrigerator and that the ice maker is filling normally.
- 2. Replace water filter: If installed, replace the water filter and purge air from the system.
- 3. Inspect door line: Feel the dispenser water line in the door area. If very cold, it may be frozen. Increase refrigerator temperature slightly and leave door closed to allow thawing.
- 4. Check for kinks: Inspect the water line from the valve to the door hinge for kinks or pinches.
- 5. Test dispenser switch: Remove the dispenser cover and test the micro-switch activated by the lever. Replace the dispenser switch if it does not show continuity when pressed.
Note: Persistent freezing of the door line may indicate too low refrigerator temperature or poor door insulation.
