Possible Causes
Defrost sensor not reporting correctly, Stuck defrost relay on PCB, Software glitch in defrost control, Wiring fault in defrost feedback circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the control board or evaporator area.
- 1. Power reset: Disconnect power for 10 minutes, then restore. If dF clears and normal operation resumes, monitor.
- 2. Check defrost sensor: Inspect and test the evaporator/defrost thermistor as described in E3/F3 entries.
- 3. Inspect main PCB: Look for signs of overheating near the defrost relay. If the relay appears burnt or stuck, the board likely needs replacement.
- 4. Verify wiring: Ensure the defrost heater and sensor wiring are intact and properly connected.
Board-level faults generally require replacement of the main PCB by a technician.
