Possible Causes

Faulty ice maker temperature sensor, Jammed ice maker mechanism, Failed ice maker motor or internal switch, Damaged wiring between ice maker and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before working on the ice maker.

  • 1. Reset the ice maker: Some Hisense models have a reset button on the ice maker module. Press and hold according to the user manual. Restore power and see if E5 clears.
  • 2. Inspect for jams: Remove the ice bin and check for clumped ice, frozen cubes stuck in the mold, or obstructions around the ejector arm. Clear any blockages.
  • 3. Check water supply: Ensure the water inlet valve to the ice maker is open and the fill tube is not frozen. Thaw a frozen fill tube with warm water or a hair dryer on low.
  • 4. Inspect wiring: Verify the harness from the ice maker to the cabinet and main board is intact and fully seated. Look for pinched or broken wires, especially in French-door models with moving connections.
  • 5. Replace the ice maker assembly: If the mechanism is seized, the sensor is faulty, or the module does not cycle even with proper power and water, replace the complete Hisense ice maker assembly.

Call a technician if you suspect a control board issue or are not comfortable removing the ice maker.
