Possible Causes
Low refrigerant charge (leak), Blocked capillary tube or filter drier, Overheated compressor, Faulty condenser fan or dirty condenser coils
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning or accessing rear components. Sealed system work must be done by a licensed technician.
- 1. Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate space around the refrigerator (especially at the back and sides) and that vents are not blocked.
- 2. Clean condenser coils: Pull the unit away from the wall. Use a vacuum and soft brush to clean dust from the condenser coils and fan area at the rear or underneath.
- 3. Verify condenser fan operation: With power restored (for observation only), confirm the rear fan runs when the compressor is on. If not, unplug and test/replace the condenser fan motor.
- 4. Monitor temperatures: After cleaning, allow 24 hours to see if cooling improves and EC clears.
- 5. Suspect sealed system issues: If the compressor runs almost constantly, the condenser is clean, and cooling is still poor, there may be a refrigerant leak or internal blockage. This requires professional diagnosis with gauges and leak detection.
Do not attempt to open the sealed system or add refrigerant yourself.
