Possible Causes
Defrost sensor drift, Sensor not properly attached to evaporator, Moisture damage to sensor, Wiring harness fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before working in the freezer compartment.
- 1. Access evaporator area: Remove drawers and rear panel to expose the evaporator and defrost sensor.
- 2. Check sensor mounting: Ensure the sensor is firmly clipped to the evaporator tubing where specified. A loose sensor can misread temperature.
- 3. Test sensor: Measure resistance at a known temperature and compare to spec. Replace if out of range.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Repair any damaged wires or connectors.
After repair, fully defrost the evaporator and monitor operation for 24–48 hours.
