Possible Causes
Blocked drain hole under evaporator, Ice plug in drain tube, Debris or mold buildup in drain channel, Misaligned drain funnel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before removing interior panels and using hot water.
- 1. Locate the drain: In the freezer (or behind the rear panel), find the drain hole at the bottom of the evaporator tray.
- 2. Clear surface ice: Remove any ice around the drain opening with warm (not boiling) water. Do not use sharp tools.
- 3. Flush the drain: Use a turkey baster or syringe to force warm water down the drain until it flows freely into the drain pan at the rear bottom of the unit.
- 4. Clean the drain tube: From the rear, remove the drain pan and gently insert a flexible plastic line or pipe cleaner into the drain tube to clear debris.
- 5. Reassemble and monitor: After clearing, reassemble panels and monitor for further leaks.
