Possible Causes

Open-circuit fridge NTC sensor, Shorted fridge NTC sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness to main PCB, Faulty main control PCB temperature input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the IceKing refrigerator from the mains before removing any panels or handling wiring. Do not work on live circuits.

Step-by-step checks:

  • 1. Power reset: Disconnect power for 5 minutes, then reconnect. If E1 clears temporarily but returns, continue with diagnosis.
  • 2. Locate the fridge NTC sensor: On most IceKing refrigerators, the refrigerator temperature sensor is clipped to the liner wall behind a small plastic cover or inside the air duct at the rear of the fridge compartment.
  • 3. Inspect the sensor and wiring: Remove the cover and visually check the sensor body and its two-wire harness for damage, corrosion, or broken insulation. Ensure the connector at the sensor and at the main PCB (usually behind the rear lower service panel) is fully seated.
  • 4. Test the sensor with a multimeter: With the appliance unplugged, disconnect the sensor from the harness. Measure resistance across the sensor terminals. A typical IceKing NTC at ~25°C should read around 5–10 kΩ (exact value varies by model). Infinite resistance indicates an open sensor; near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor.
  • 5. Check continuity of the harness: If the sensor tests OK, test continuity from the sensor connector to the main PCB connector. Repair or replace any damaged wiring or loose terminals.
  • 6. Replace faulty parts: If the sensor is out of spec, replace the refrigerator compartment NTC sensor with the correct IceKing part number for your model. If wiring and sensor are good but E1 persists, the main control PCB may be defective and should be replaced by a qualified technician.

When to call a professional: If you are not comfortable testing resistance or accessing the main PCB, or if replacing the sensor does not clear E1, contact an authorized IceKing service technician.
