Possible Causes

Failed magnetic reed switch or mechanical door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken wiring in door frame, Faulty main PCB door input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing any trim or panels around the door frame.

Steps:

  • 1. Check door closure: Ensure the door is closing fully and the gasket is not obstructed. A partially open door can trigger the alarm without a sensor fault.
  • 2. Locate the door switch: On many IceKing models, the switch is a plunger in the frame or a hidden magnetic reed switch. Identify its location from the user manual or by visual inspection.
  • 3. Test the switch: For a plunger switch, press it by hand and see if the interior light turns off. If not, the switch may be faulty. For magnetic switches, move a magnet near the sensor and observe if the light or alarm changes state.
  • 4. Electrical test: Remove the switch from the frame and test continuity with a multimeter while actuating it. Replace if it does not open/close reliably.
  • 5. Check the magnet alignment: If a magnet is embedded in the door, ensure it has not fallen out or shifted. Re-seat or replace as needed.
  • 6. Wiring and PCB: If the switch and magnet are good, inspect wiring from the switch to the main PCB for breaks, especially near hinge areas. If wiring is intact, the PCB input may be defective and require professional replacement.

Note: A faulty door switch can also cause interior lights to stay on and warm the compartment.
