Possible Causes
Loose or oxidized connector between UI board and main PCB, Damaged ribbon cable, Failed display PCB, Faulty main control PCB communication driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before removing the control panel or display housing.
Steps:
- 1. Access the display panel: On IceKing models with a front display, gently pry off the trim and remove screws to access the user interface PCB.
- 2. Check connectors: Inspect the ribbon cable or harness connecting the UI to the main PCB. Reseat both ends, ensuring they are fully inserted and locked.
- 3. Inspect for damage: Look for cracked solder joints, burnt components, or moisture damage on the UI board.
- 4. Test operation: After reseating connectors, restore power and see if E13 clears. If the error persists and the display is erratic, replace the user interface PCB.
- 5. Main PCB consideration: If a new UI board does not resolve the issue, the main PCB communication circuitry may be defective and should be replaced by a professional.
Warning: Avoid flexing the ribbon cable sharply; it can crack internal conductors.
