Possible Causes
Misreading freezer NTC sensor, Stuck relay on main PCB, Incorrect control calibration, Shorted wiring causing false low temperature reading
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before testing sensors or PCB connections.
Steps:
- 1. Verify actual temperature: Place an accurate thermometer in the freezer and compare to the displayed temperature. Note any large discrepancy.
- 2. Check freezer NTC sensor: Access the freezer sensor as described for E2. Measure its resistance at a known temperature and compare to the expected curve. Replace if out of range.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Look for shorted or pinched wires between the sensor and PCB that could cause a false low reading.
- 4. Control reset: After sensor replacement, unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes to reset the control. Reprogram temperature settings and monitor.
- 5. PCB replacement: If the sensor and wiring are correct but the control continues to overcool and shows E16, the main PCB may be miscalibrated or have a stuck output and should be replaced.
Note: Prolonged overcooling can cause excessive frost and food damage; address promptly.
