Possible Causes

Faulty compressor start relay or PTC, Defective inverter module (on inverter-driven models), Loose or damaged compressor wiring harness, Faulty main control PCB output to compressor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator. Compressor and inverter circuits carry mains voltage; if you are not experienced with electrical testing, contact a professional.

Steps:

  • 1. Listen for compressor behavior: When powered, does the compressor attempt to start (clicking) then stop, or remain silent? This helps distinguish start relay issues from control issues.
  • 2. Access the compressor compartment: Remove the rear lower service panel. Locate the compressor, start relay/PTC (small plastic module on compressor terminals), and, if present, the inverter module.
  • 3. Inspect components: Check for burnt smell, cracked relay housing, or melted connectors. Ensure all plugs are firmly seated.
  • 4. Test the start relay/PTC (non-inverter models): Disconnect the relay and shake it gently; if it rattles or shows burn marks, replace it. You can also test resistance according to the service manual; an open relay indicates failure.
  • 5. Check compressor windings: With the relay removed and power disconnected, measure resistance between the compressor terminals (C-R, C-S, R-S). Values should be low but not zero, and no terminal should be shorted to the compressor shell. If windings are open or shorted, the compressor is faulty.
  • 6. Inverter models: If your IceKing uses an inverter, verify DC supply from the main PCB to the inverter and check for visible damage on the inverter board. Inverter or PCB replacement should be done by a technician.

Warning: Replacing a compressor requires refrigerant handling and must be performed by a certified refrigeration engineer.
