Possible Causes

Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice obstruction around fan blades, Damaged fan wiring harness, Faulty main PCB fan driver

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the freezer fan area.

Steps:

  • 1. Listen for the fan: With doors closed for several minutes and the unit powered, you should normally hear the evaporator fan running. If silent or making grinding noises, suspect the fan.
  • 2. Access the fan: Remove freezer drawers and the rear inner panel to expose the evaporator and fan assembly. On some IceKing models, the fan is mounted in a plastic shroud above or beside the evaporator.
  • 3. Check for ice buildup: Look for ice encasing the fan blades or shroud. If present, fully defrost the area using warm air (not sharp tools). Ice blockage alone can trigger E7.
  • 4. Inspect and test the fan motor: Spin the fan blades by hand; they should rotate freely. Check the wiring connector for corrosion or loose pins. With the fan disconnected and the unit unplugged, measure motor coil resistance; an open circuit indicates a failed motor.
  • 5. Replace the fan motor: If the motor is seized or open, replace the evaporator fan motor assembly with the correct IceKing part. Transfer the fan blade if it is a separate piece.
  • 6. PCB check: If the fan tests good but does not receive voltage when the compressor is running, the main PCB may be at fault and should be evaluated by a technician.

Warning: Ensure all wiring is routed away from moving fan blades during reassembly.
