Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the freezer fan area.

Steps:

1. Access fan: Remove freezer drawers and the rear inner panel to expose the fan and evaporator.
2. Remove ice: Carefully melt ice around the fan using warm air (hair dryer on low) and towels. Do not use sharp tools.
3. Check fan alignment: Ensure the fan blade is centered in the shroud and not rubbing against plastic.
4. Inspect defrost system: Test defrost heater and thermostat as described earlier. Repair any faults to prevent recurring ice buildup.
5. Verify door seal: Check freezer door gasket for leaks that can introduce excess moisture.

Note: After clearing ice, monitor for several days to ensure the noise does not return.
