Possible Causes

Frozen water line in refrigerator door, Faulty dispenser micro-switch, Blocked dispenser nozzle, Kinked water tube behind unit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Turn off water supply and unplug the refrigerator before working on the dispenser.

Steps:

  • 1. Check for water at valve: Disconnect the dispenser outlet tube at the bottom of the door and briefly turn on water to see if flow is present. If yes, the line inside the door may be frozen.
  • 2. Thaw door line: Gently warm the dispenser area and lower door with a hair dryer on low, moving constantly. Do not overheat or concentrate heat in one spot.
  • 3. Test dispenser switch: Remove the dispenser panel and test the micro-switch for continuity when pressed. Replace if faulty.
  • 4. Inspect tubing: Ensure the water tube behind the refrigerator is not kinked or pinched.

Note: Keeping the fridge temperature at a moderate setting and ensuring door seals are good can help prevent line freezing.
