Possible Causes
Food debris blocking fridge drain hole, Ice blocking drain due to poor defrost, Misaligned drain funnel, Cracked internal drain channel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: Unplug the refrigerator before using warm water inside the cabinet.
Steps:
- 1. Locate the drain hole: At the back of the fridge compartment, just above the crisper area, there is usually a small drain hole or channel.
- 2. Clear debris: Remove any visible food particles or mold. Use a soft brush or cotton swab.
- 3. Flush with warm water: Using a turkey baster or syringe, flush the drain with warm water until it flows freely into the rear drain pan.
- 4. Check for recurring ice: If the drain repeatedly ices over, check door seals and ensure the fridge is not set too cold, which can cause condensation and freezing.
Note: Avoid using sharp objects that can puncture the liner or drain channel.
