Possible Causes

Failed dual water inlet valve, Frozen water line in freezer door, Faulty dispenser micro-switch, Broken wiring in door hinge area

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before disconnecting any water lines.

Steps:

  • 1. Check water pressure: Confirm that the household water supply to the fridge is on and has adequate pressure.
  • 2. Test dispenser switch: Press the dispenser lever and listen for a click from the micro-switch. If no click, the switch may be faulty or misaligned.
  • 3. Inspect door wiring: At the bottom hinge of the door, inspect the wiring harness for breaks or pinched wires that could interrupt power to the valve or switch.
  • 4. Check for frozen line: If the freezer is very cold, the water line in the door can freeze. Try turning the freezer slightly warmer and leave the door open briefly to thaw, or carefully warm the dispenser area with a hair dryer on low (do not overheat plastic).
  • 5. Test inlet valve: Access the rear of the fridge and locate the water inlet valve. With power off, disconnect the outlet line and check for blockages. With power on (only if trained), test for voltage at the valve when dispensing. If voltage is present but no water flows, replace the valve.

Warning: Live voltage and water are present at the valve. If unsure, call a technician.
