• 1. Locate ambient sensor: On many Ikea refrigerators, the ambient sensor is near the top front, behind the display/control panel or grille. Remove the panel screws or clips to access it.
• 2. Inspect sensor and wiring: Look for discoloration, broken insulation, or loose connectors. Reseat the plug firmly.
• 3. Test resistance: With the fridge unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance. Compare to typical NTC values (e.g., around 5–10 kΩ at room temperature). Replace if open, shorted, or clearly out of range.
• 4. Replace sensor if needed: Install a new OEM ambient sensor, routing wires away from sharp edges and moving parts.
• 5. Evaluate control board: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the main control board may not be reading the sensor correctly. Inspect for burnt components and consider replacement if all other causes are ruled out.

Tip: After replacement, allow 24 hours for temperatures to stabilize and for the control to recalibrate.
