Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the rear compartment.
Locate the condenser thermistor: On some Insignia models, a thermistor is attached to the condenser coil or near the compressor to monitor system temperature.
- Inspect sensor placement: Ensure the thermistor is firmly attached to the tubing or bracket and has not fallen away.
- Check wiring: Look for heat-damaged or brittle wires near the compressor and condenser. Repair or replace damaged sections.
- Test thermistor: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the thermistor and measure resistance. Compare to expected NTC values at room temperature. Open or shorted readings indicate failure.
- Replace if defective: Install a new Insignia-compatible condenser thermistor and secure it in the same location.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall the rear panel, restore power, and monitor operation. The E10 code should clear if the sensor and wiring are correct.
Note: If the thermistor is good but E10 persists, the main control board may need replacement.
