Possible Causes

Failed ice maker motor, Jammed ice cubes in ice maker, Faulty ice maker position switch or sensor, Damaged ice maker wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before servicing the ice maker.

Inspect the ice maker:

  • Remove the ice bin to access the ice maker assembly.
  • Look for jammed or fused ice cubes blocking the ejector arms or rake.
  • Clear jams: Use warm water in a squeeze bottle or a soft plastic tool to gently remove stuck ice. Do not use metal tools that can damage the mold.
  • Check wiring and connectors: Ensure the ice maker harness is fully seated and not damaged, especially where it passes through the freezer wall or door.
  • Reset the ice maker: Some Insignia models have a test or reset button on the ice maker module. Press and hold according to the user manual to initiate a test cycle.
  • Observe operation: After restoring power, watch for the ice maker to rotate and fill. If the motor does not move at all, the motor or internal switch may be defective.
  • Replace ice maker assembly: If the unit fails the test cycle or E11 persists, replace the entire Insignia ice maker assembly. Transfer any mounting brackets as needed.

Note: If the ice maker is new and still does not operate, verify correct model compatibility and check for control board issues.
