Insignia Water Filter Sensor / Flow Monitoring Fault

Display shows E16 and the water filter indicator may not reset or water flow is restricted.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the water supply before removing the filter.

Check filter installation:

  • Remove the existing water filter from the Insignia filter housing.
  • Inspect the O-rings for damage or misalignment.
  • Reinstall the filter, ensuring it is fully seated and locked into position.
  • Replace the filter: If the filter is older than 6 months or water flow is slow, install a new Insignia-approved water filter.
  • Bleed air from the system: Turn the water back on and run water from the dispenser for 2–3 minutes to remove air.
  • Reset the filter indicator: Follow the user manual instructions (often pressing and holding the filter reset or alarm button for several seconds) to clear the E16/filter warning.

Note: If the code persists and the filter is correctly installed, the filter housing sensor or control board may be faulty and require professional diagnosis.
