Possible Causes
Failed dual water inlet valve coil, Loose valve wiring connector, Clogged valve screen causing overheating, Faulty main control board valve output
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before servicing the valve.
Access the water inlet valve:
- Pull the refrigerator away from the wall.
- Remove the lower rear access panel to locate the water inlet valve where the house water line connects.
- Inspect for leaks or damage: Look for cracks, mineral buildup, or water stains around the valve body.
- Check wiring: Ensure the electrical connectors are firmly attached to the valve coils.
- Clean inlet screen: Turn off water, disconnect the inlet line, and inspect the screen for debris. Clean or replace if clogged.
- Replace valve if faulty: If the valve coils are open (no continuity) or the valve is leaking, replace the dual water inlet valve with an Insignia-compatible part.
- Reassemble and test: Reconnect water lines, turn water back on, check for leaks, restore power, and test water dispensing and ice making. The E18 code should clear if the valve and wiring are correct.
Warning: Always check for leaks after working on water connections.
