Possible Causes
Failed condenser fan motor, Obstructed condenser fan blades, Loose or damaged fan wiring harness, Faulty main control board fan driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the rear compartment. Beware of sharp metal edges.
Access the condenser fan:
- Pull the refrigerator away from the wall.
- Remove the lower rear access panel to expose the compressor and condenser fan assembly.
- Inspect the fan: Check for dust buildup, debris, or anything blocking the fan blades. Spin the blades by hand; they should move freely without grinding.
- Clean and clear obstructions: Use a vacuum and soft brush to clean the condenser coils and fan area. Remove any foreign objects.
- Check wiring: Ensure the fan motor connector is fully seated and wires are not damaged.
- Test the fan motor: With power restored briefly (use caution and keep hands clear), observe whether the fan starts when the compressor runs. If it does not run and has proper voltage (requires meter), the motor is likely bad.
- Replace the fan motor: Unplug the unit again. Remove mounting screws or clips holding the fan motor. Transfer the fan blade to the new Insignia-compatible condenser fan motor, install it, and reconnect wiring.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall the rear panel, restore power, and verify that the fan runs and the E7 code clears.
Note: If the fan motor is good but never receives power, the main control board may be defective.
