Display shows E8 and the evaporator fan in the freezer may not run, leading to poor air circulation and warm spots.

Access the evaporator fan:

• Empty the freezer compartment.
• Remove the rear interior panel to expose the evaporator coil and fan assembly.

• Inspect for ice blockage: Look for heavy frost or ice around the fan shroud and blades. If present, the fan may be unable to spin.
• Defrost the area: Use a hair dryer on low heat to gently melt ice, keeping the dryer away from plastic and wiring. Do not use sharp tools.
• Check fan movement: Spin the fan blades by hand. They should rotate freely without scraping.
• Check wiring: Ensure the fan motor connector is secure and wires are intact.
• Test operation: After clearing ice, briefly restore power (with panels still off but hands clear) to see if the fan runs when the compressor is on. If it does not run and has proper voltage, the motor is likely defective.
• Replace the fan motor: Unplug again. Remove screws or clips holding the fan motor. Install a new Insignia-compatible evaporator fan motor, transfer the fan blade if needed, and reconnect wiring.
• Reassemble and test: Reinstall the rear panel, restore power, and confirm that the E8 code clears and airflow is restored.

Note: Persistent E8 with a known-good fan motor suggests a main control board issue.
