Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before touching moving parts.

Identify noise source:

• Pull the refrigerator away from the wall.
• Remove the rear lower panel and listen (after briefly restoring power) to determine if the noise comes from the fan or compressor.

• Condenser fan noise: Unplug again, inspect the fan for debris or bent blades. Clean and straighten as needed. If the motor is rough or wobbly, replace the Insignia condenser fan motor.
• Compressor noise: Check that the compressor mounting bolts and rubber grommets are intact. Tighten loose mounts gently.
• Level the refrigerator: Adjust front leveling legs so the unit is stable and does not rock.

Note: Some compressor hum is normal. Extremely loud or knocking sounds from the compressor may indicate internal failure and require professional service.
