Possible Causes
Door not fully closed, Obstructing food packages, Misaligned door, Failed door switch or reed sensor, Damaged door gasket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No internal electrical work is required for basic checks. If replacing switches, disconnect power first.
- Check for obstructions: Inspect shelves and door bins for items preventing the door from closing fully. Reorganize contents so doors close freely.
- Inspect gaskets: Examine the door gaskets for tears, warping, or debris. Clean with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
- Door alignment: Verify that doors are level and aligned. If a door sags, adjust the hinge height per the installation instructions.
- Test door switch: Locate the door switch (usually in the frame). Press it manually; the interior lights should turn off and the door-ajar alarm should stop. If not, the switch may be faulty.
- Replace switch or sensor: Disconnect power, remove the switch from the liner, transfer wires to the new switch, and reinstall. On models with magnetic reed sensors, replacement may require door disassembly and is best done by a technician.
