Possible Causes
Broken door harness at hinge, Loose connector at dispenser UI, Faulty dispenser control board, Faulty main control board communication circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before working around the door hinges or dispenser wiring. Doors are heavy—support them if removing.
- Inspect hinge harness: At the bottom of the freezer or refrigerator door (depending on model), locate the wiring harness that passes through the hinge. Look for cracked insulation, broken wires, or pulled connectors.
- Check dispenser UI connections: Remove the dispenser trim and control panel carefully. Ensure all connectors are fully seated and free of corrosion or moisture.
- Dry any moisture: If water has leaked into the dispenser area, dry thoroughly and correct any leaks from the water line or chute.
- Harness repair: Replace the door wiring harness if any wires are broken or heavily damaged. Splicing in the hinge area is not recommended due to flexing.
- Board replacement: If wiring is intact and E6 persists, either the dispenser control board or the main control board may be defective. Professional diagnosis is recommended.
