Possible Causes
Failed condenser fan motor, Obstruction in condenser fan blades, Loose or damaged fan wiring, Faulty main control board fan output
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the rear machine compartment. The condenser fan is near the compressor and may be hot.
- Access the condenser fan: Remove the rear lower access panel to expose the condenser fan motor and condenser coils.
- Check for obstructions: Inspect the fan blades for dust buildup, plastic, or debris preventing rotation. Remove any obstructions carefully.
- Spin test: With power disconnected, spin the fan blade by hand. It should rotate freely. If it is stiff or seized, the motor is likely bad.
- Wiring check: Ensure the fan motor connector is fully seated and wires are not damaged.
- Replace fan motor: If the fan does not run when the compressor is on (and E8 is present), replace the condenser fan motor. Transfer the fan blade to the new motor and reinstall.
- Control board: If a new fan motor does not run and wiring is good, the main control board may not be supplying power and should be tested by a technician.
