Possible Causes
Water supply off, Frozen water reservoir or door line, Faulty dispenser switch, Failed water inlet valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the water supply before disconnecting lines. Unplug the refrigerator before accessing electrical components.
- Check water supply: Verify the shutoff valve is open and the supply line is not kinked.
- Test for frozen line: Open the fresh food door and feel the water reservoir area (often behind crisper drawers) and door for extreme cold. If frozen, raise refrigerator temperature slightly and allow 24 hours to thaw.
- Bypass filter: If your model allows, install a filter bypass plug to rule out a clogged filter. If water flows with the bypass, replace the water filter.
- Listen for valve click: When pressing the dispenser, listen at the back for a click from the water inlet valve. No click may indicate a bad dispenser switch or control board; a click with no water may indicate a bad valve.
- Replace faulty parts: Replace the dispenser switch or water inlet valve as indicated by testing.
